Edi Callier

Do you have a day job? And name two things you really like about it.

I do music full time! I’m blessed and grateful to be able to do what I love and make a living with it. I also enjoy the fact that I get to make my own schedule.

What is a comfort food that you really like, that you wish was healthier? What do you like about it? What does it remind you of?

Vegan bratwurst! I love it because it reminds me of when I was a kid and the family would sit at the dinner table together and watch movies while eating our signature family meal “hot dogs, beans, and chips”

When your family gets together, what do you do? And what do you wish you did?

I actually wish we got together more often! It’s been some years since we’ve all been together in the same place but when we do get together, we make some amazing music and eat some great food.

What’s a song or artist you used to “hate,” but you’re into recently? Why do you like it? What stopped you from liking it before?

Hmmmm… that’s a good one! I’m not sure how I feel about his music recently but I used to LOATHE Justin Bieber then I think it was his ‘Believe’ album that made me look at his music in a different light. Now I’m a little indifferent about it but he pays a lot of my friends so I’m fine with it.

What do you feel is going to get better in the next ten years?

Hopefully vegan food options in LA! I just moved here and there are a lot of options but none of them TASTE as good as Atlanta vegan food. There’s just more love in the seasoning in the south I guess.

What have you failed at personally–not professionally–that you’re still working on?

Wow! This is a really good one. I’d probably say relationships, romantic and platonic. I can honestly say that sometimes I get so caught up in my career, it doesn’t leave much room for much else and that can be detrimental in a time of need with someone you care about.

What’s the biggest professional mistake you’ve ever made and what did you learn from it?

Signing to a management company knowing I wasn’t satisfied with the way they’d done things in the past. I did so much research and I saw so many red flags you’d think I’d stepped into a Chinese embassy but because I was desperate at a tumultuous time in my life, I signed with them anyway to the detriment of all parties involved.

What’s your favorite song of all time and why? (Tough question. Do your best.)

This is such a hard question but I just listened to ‘I’ll Write a Song for You’ by Earth, Wind, and Fire about 7 times on repeat and it’s still playing right now so I guess that’d take spot number one on my list right now. It’s a work of art, man. It’s… quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written and it’s so beautifully sung by Philip Bailey and… I’m not crying, you’re crying.

What’s your most favorite place you’ve ever been and why? Doesn’t have to be travel related.

That’s a tough one but I’d have to say right here in LA! The valley to be exact. Since I’ve moved here, I’ve seen some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen in my life and the part that makes it so great is that I LIVE HERE. Oh, I love it so much.

What time did you feel most connected with the world and human beings?

At one of the most recent festivals I did, there was a moment when I felt a really intense connection with the crowd. There was an energy that was there and I was telling my story of the continuous fight to beat depression and I could feel the words being latched on to as I was speaking them.

If you had one reunion with all the friends and family you wanted, what activity would you all do?

We would make the greatest record of all time then spend hours on a Slip ‘N Slide.

What is your name and your band/project’s name? Where can we find you on the internet?
